Gertsen, a senior on the New Canaan varsity field hockey team, led the Rams to two wins in their first three games of 2014. Gertsen leads the team with three goals on the year, netting a pair of them in a 6-2 win against Danbury.

Alex LaPolice had a terrific all-around performance in New Canaan’s season-opening win over Hand. The senior co-captain caught 8 passes for 62 yards and two TDs. LaPolice also gained 37 yards rushing and 25 yards returning kicks and had seven tackles on defense. Most importantly, his strip of Hand QB Nick Van Dell late in the 4th quarter helped the Rams seal a 21-14 win.
Way to go, Madeleine Gertsen. 3 goals!
