Police arrested two New Rochelle, N.Y. men who confessed to stealing a 16-horsepower, Fraiden-brand push leafblower worth about $1,800.
The complainant who reported to police on the night of Nov. 3 that the lawn equipment had gone missing from his truck earlier that afternoon spotted a suspicious SUV the following day, according to a police report. At the time the leafblower was taken, a gray Jeep Cherokee with Virginia plates had been spotted in the area, pulling into multiple driveways on Putnam Road.
The next day, the complainant saw the same vehicle on Smith Ridge Road in the area of Country Club Road and contacted police, the report said.
Police pulled over the vehicle and confronted the two men inside, one 45 and the other 36. One of them admitted to taking the leafblower and the other said they were together, police said.
They were charged with fifth-degree larceny and released after promising to appear Nov. 13 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
