A 5,550-square-foot home is planned for a 1.02-acre lot on Overlook Drive where a 1955-built ranch-style house less than half that size had stood until last month.

The new home at 144 Overlook Drive will include six bedrooms and full bathrooms, a half-bath, finished basement, in-law suite and covered front porch, according to a building permit application filed Tuesday.
The house will cost about $900,000 to build, the application said, and the contractor on the job is Stamford’s Skyview Builders LLC. AedifeX LLC of North Salem, N.Y. is the architect, the application said.
The town on Feb. 23 issued a permit to demolish the existing house, a ranch with 1,935 square feet of living space.

According to a building permit application received March 4, the new home will include 12 total rooms, with four bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms, a 3-car garage and two fireplaces.
The home will cost some $1,050,000 to build, according to the application.
Currently, a 1,960-square-foot ranch sits on the 1.62-acre property (in the 2-acre zone).
