The town has received an application to build a new 4,900-square-foot home on a .39-acre Douglas Road lot long occupied by a Cape Cod-style home smaller than one-third that size.
The house at 148 Douglas Road will include 11 total rooms, including four bedrooms, four full bathrooms and one half-bath, kitchen, dining room, family room, mudroom and laundry, according to the building permit application.
The property was purchased for $875,000 last July, tax records show. A demolition permit was issued in July for the existing house.
The new home will cost about $780,000 to build, the application said.
The contractor on the job will be the owner, a limited liability company whose principals are a New Canaan man and woman.
The architect on the job is out of Norwalk, the application said.
