Red Sox – 14, Mets – 13
The Mrs. Green’s Red Sox defeated the Walter Stewart’s Mets 14-13 in a closely contested back and forth game. The Red Sox lineup was anchored by Nick Burns who reached safely 3 out of 4 at bats and the game-winning hit by Tristan Pearl.
The Mets defense saw web gems from Luke Hickey and Justin Higgins. Ryan Werneburg had a great catch in the outfield and Cameron Besaw pitched a perfect last inning for the Sox. Matthew Benevento hit two home runs, and Brendan Keogh had a number of productive at bats for the Mets.

Cardinals – 8, Kingdom Restoration – 7
Cooper Dinan’s walk-off single in the bottom of the 6th inning broke a 7-7 tie and lifted the NewCanaanite.com Cardinals to an 8-7 opening day win over Norwalk’s Kingdom Restoration last Thursday.
The Cards got off to a quick start, scoring a run in the first inning as Graham Ladley hit a leadoff double, stole third and scored on a groundout. The Cardinals added a run in the second inning and seemed to break things open with a five-run third.
Ladley got things going again with a one-out double and scored on Matthew Balkun’s single to make it 3-0. Carson Perlman followed with a single before Brendan Tiscornia drove home two runs with a single to center extending the Cardinals’ lead to 5-0. Ian Wearing and Dinan followed with RBI singles and when the dust settled, the Cards held a 7-0 lead.
Kingdom fought back with two runs in the fourth and five in the fifth to knot the game at 7, setting up the last-inning heroics for the Cardinals, who received excellent pitching from Balkun, Perlman and Wearing.
Cardinals – 10, Orioles – 5
Brendan Tiscornia’s 2-RBI triple in the 4th inning broke a 6-6 tie and sent the NewCanaanite.com Cardinals to a 10-6 win over the Ramp 3 Baseball Orioles.
The Cards received a tremendous pitching performance from Cos DeFelice, who retired eight of the last nine batters he faced with three K’s to earn the win. Carson Perlman was also solid on the bump for the Cardinals, giving up just one hit in three innings of work.
The O’s were led by Trey Hartnett, who singled and stole four bases with two runs scored, and Riley Gardiner who went 1-for-2 with a single and a run scored. Strong pitching was turned in by Orioles hurlers Marc DeGaetano, Matt Boland and Edward “Moonlight” Graham, with sparkling defensive play from Chris Luchette and Nicholas Deligtisch.
Calvin Stuart and Will Bordley had solid at bats for the Cards, who improved to 2-0 on the season.
