Police after midnight on Sunday arrested a 54-year-old Douglas Road woman for drunk driving, and discovered while processing her that she also was wanted in connection with a motor vehicle crash in New Canaan from seven years ago where alcohol also had been involved.

At about 12:19 a.m. on Sept. 11, an officer traveling southbound on Park Street spotted a vehicle heading in the other direction that was drifting in and out of its lane, according to a police report.

The office smelled alcohol on the driver’s breath during a subsequent motor vehicle stop, the report said. The woman driving the car then failed field sobriety tests, and refused to undergo a breath test, it said.

She was charged with driving under the influence, cited for failure to drive right, released on $250 bond and scheduled to appear Sept. 20 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.

While processing her, police discovered the woman was wanted on another DUI charge, as well as evading responsibility, from about 9:49 p.m. on Aug. 1, 2009, the report said. That accident had occurred on Oenoke Ridge Road near Oenoke Lane, police said. For those incident, police released the woman on $5,000 bond and scheduled her to appear Sept. 20.
