Police before dawn Monday arrested a 53-year-old New Canaan woman and charged her with disorderly conduct.

At about 11:55 p.m. on Feb. 16, officers were dispatched to an Indian Rock Road home on a report of a domestic dispute between two occupants, police said.

Following an investigation, police at 1:28 a.m. on Feb. 17 charged the woman with the misdemeanor offense.

It’s unclear what the dispute involved, how it started, whether it turned physical, how the arrested woman is related to the victim or what injuries, if any, were sustained. Police withheld details, classifying the incident as a domestic matter.

Under state law, a person is guilty of disorderly conduct when, with intent to cause inconvenience, annoyance or alarm, engages in fighting or in violent, tumultuous or threatening behavior; or by offensive or disorderly conduct, annoys or interferes with another person, among other reasons.

The woman was released after promising to appear Tuesday in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
