Police on Tuesday morning arrested a 44-year-old Prospect, Conn. man following an extensive investigation into a burglary from two years ago that involved DNA evidence.
At about 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 3, 2014—a Wednesday—officers were dispatched to a New Norwalk Road home on a report of a burglary, police said.
There, officers found that a front door had been forced open and some $13,000 in jewelry stolen, according to a police report.
Members of the New Canaan Police Investigative Section obtained DNA evidence on scene and sent it to a state lab for processing, the report said.
As a result, a positive ID for suspect was obtained, and arrest warrant issued.
Police charged the man with third-degree burglary and second-degree larceny.
At about 9 a.m. on Oct. 4, police went to state Superior Court in Norwalk to arrest the man, who was there on other charges.
He was held on $40,000 bond and scheduled to appear the same day.
