New Canaan Police Promote Ferraro, Casey

New Canaan police have promoted two men within the department, Chief Leon Krolikowski said in a press release put out on Friday.

Sgt. Jason Ferraro, a 15-year veteran of the department, was promoted lieutenant, while Officer Kevin Casey, a New Canaan police officer for two decades, is now a sergeant, the chief said.

Congratulations to two of our town’s finest.

Here are fuller biographies of both NCPD members.

“Lieutenant Ferraro has served with the department for 15 1/2 years, filling many roles – patrol officer, field training officer, bicycle patrol officer, dispatcher, and patrol sergeant.  He has been a member of the Department’s Special Response Team since 2000. He was appointed the team leader in 2007.  During his career he has received 30 letters of appreciation and/or commendations for exceptional performance of his duties. 

“Lieutenant Ferraro has an undergraduate degree in Human Relations and a Master’s Degree of Professional Studies in Elementary Education and Special Education.  Prior to serving with the Department, Lieutenant Ferraro was a Special Education teacher. He and his wife, Darleen, live in New Canaan and have four children.”

“Sergeant Casey has served with the department for 20 years, acting in many roles – patrol officer, dispatcher, acting sergeant, department photographer and Crime scene video technician. Sergeant Casey is also a Co-Chairman of the Fairfield county hazmat communications response team which responds to major incidents throughout the county and provides communication solutions for other responding agencies. 

“Sergeant Casey is a former New York City Correction Officer assigned to Rikers Island where he received commendations for Bravery and Leadership. During his career he has received 8 letters of appreciation and/or commendations as well as 9 Department medals for exceptional performance of his duties. Specifically, Sergeant Casey received the Department’s Exceptional Duty Medal, MADD award, NCVAC lifesaving award, 5 medical service awards for CPR and in 2006 Sergeant Casey received the American Red Cross Hero award for saving the life of his father-in-law, New Canaan resident, John Sandstrom.

“Sergeant Casey resides in Ridgefield with his wife Rosemary and their 4 children. Sergeant Casey and his wife are expecting their fifth child this summer.”
