Police last week arrested a 58-year-old Cheese Spring Road man and charged him with second-degree breach of peace.

At about 12:51 p.m. on April 18, officers were dispatched to Press Burger on South Avenue on a report of an active dispute between two customers, according to police.

Following an investigation, authorities determined that the local man had been verbally abusive toward another customer, creating a disturbance in the restaurant.

Under state law, a person is guilty of second-degree breach of peace, a misdemeanor, when he or she “with intent to cause inconvenience, annoyance or alarm, or recklessly creating a risk thereof, such person… in a public place, uses abusive or obscene language or makes an obscene gesture.”

Police released the man after he promised to appear May 1 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
