Police on Thursday afternoon arrested a 56-year-old New Canaan man and charged him with third-degree assault and second-degree strangulation.
At about 2:30 p.m. on June 29, officers received a complaint about a domestic dispute earlier that day at a Deacon’s Way home, according to a police report.
The victim told police that he or she had been pushed down, strangled and punched in the head by the man, the report said.
Police conducted an investigation and, as a result, traveled to the man’s Deacon’s Way home and charged him.
It isn’t clear whether the victim was a man or woman, whether or how the arrested man is related to that victim, whether the incident occurred in the arrested man’s home or somewhere else on the street, what the two parties had been arguing about or what else may have prompted the attack. Police withheld further information, classifying the incident as a domestic matter.
The man was released on $10,000 bond and scheduled to appear Friday in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
