Police cited an 18-year-old New Canaan girl on minor drug and alcohol charges on Thanksgiving morning following a motor vehicle stop near her home.

The Squires Lane resident was issued infraction summonses for possession of less than .5 ounces of marijuana and possession of alcohol.

Around 10:26 a.m. on Nov. 26, an officer responding to a report of a roaming dog in the area of White Fall and Squires Lanes spotted the car and requested that the driver slow down, according to a police report.

Approaching the car to ask whether its three occupants recognized the dog or knew its owner, the officer smelled marijuana emanating from within, the report said.

The officer deployed Apollo, the department’s K-9 dog, and a subsequent search of the car turned up marijuana in a Zip-Loc baggie, 1.75 liter bottle of Bacardi Superior white rum and one box of Mike’s Harder Lemonade with 10 12-ounce cans, the report said.
