“Painting Inside-Out,” Joint Art Show by Pam Ackley and Bevi Bullwinkel, is Next Exhibition to Open at New Canaan Library
Thursday, June, 1, 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
FreeHow the internal drives-and translates to-the external outcome is beautifully explored in “Painting Inside-Out,” the next exhibition to open at New Canaan Library’s H. Pelham Curtis Gallery. The exhibition runs from May 25 through July 23, 2017. An opening reception will be held on Thursday, June 1 at 6 p.m. in the Curtis Gallery; all are welcome to attend.
Although both painters call upon internal thoughts and influences in their creative processes, the works they produce are quite different in style. Pam Ackley is a realist, her background in psychology combines with her artistic skills, resulting in paintings that are readily identifiable yet emanating emotions. ” To me, everything emotes a mood, whether the object is organic or inanimate,” says Ackley. “Painting allows me entrance into that fascinating inside space I discovered years ago through academia.
In contrast and in complement, Bevi Bullwinkle’s landscapes are decidedly abstract, conveying an internal perspective and level of contemplation. Her soft palette and fluid lines beckon the viewer to embrace impermanence and alternate views. ” While working in any media I try to distill my thoughts in order to express the essence of what lies beneath the surface,” says Bullwinkle.
