New York-based Guitarist John Lehmann-Haupt Returns to New Canaan Library

FreeNew Canaan Library is pleased to welcome back accomplished, versatile guitarist John Lehmann-Haupt, performing a mix of classical and popular music on Thursday, February 28 at 6:30 p.m. in the Adrian Lamb Room.. Seating is limited, please register online at newcanaanlibrary.org.
John Lehmann-Haupt will perform a variety of classical works as well as some of his own arrangements of popular and traditional songs, including selections by Bach, Mendelssohn, Albeniz, Jobim, Gershwin, and Stevie Wonder. Lehmann-Haupt has played guitar since he was five years old. With a distinctive solo repertoire in which he interweaves classical selections with his own arrangements, Lehmann-Haupt has released two CDs. His 12-year engagement at Windows on the World (atop the former World Trade Center) was cited for excellence by The New York Times. HIs arrangements have been published by Mel Bay, and he has written on the subject of music for several publications. Lehmann-Haupt was a staff instructor at New York’s American Institute of Guitar from 1982 until its 2008 closing, and since 2006 he has served on the Board of Directors of the New York City Classical Guitar Society.
