The annual service to honor the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. will be held at 10:30 a.m. on January 18, 2016 at the United Methodist Church, 165 South Avenue, New Canaan. Dr. King was an American clergyman, activist, humanitarian, and leader in the African-American Civil Rights Movement.
The keynote speaker will be Jason Michael Land who is a second ­year, Master of Divinity candidate at Yale Divinity School. In addition to the keynote address there will be reflections and commentary from local leaders Beth Jones, Selectman, New Canaan, Jerry Lephart of the Religious Society of Friends, Rev. Eric Fjeldal of the United Methodist Church, Rev. Daniel Hickman of the Community Baptist Church. Rajon Mitchell, Christopher Roman and Brian MacCalla of New Canaan High School and residents of the ABC House in New Canaan. Music for the service will be provided by the Serendipity Chorale of Southwestern Connecticut, Pivot Ministries, Bruce Taylor, guitarist and the congregation.
