Thursday, January, 24, 2019 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Free

Music@ New Canaan Library presents the vibrant and emotion-filled beauty of traditional flamenco dancing with a visit and demonstration by Rebeca Tomas and A Palo Seco Flamenco Company. The event takes place on Thursday, January 24 at 6:30 p.m. in the Adrian Lamb Room. Please register online at newcanaanlibrary.org.

Experience live dance and music in a vibrant and entertaining production full of color, rhythm, and emotions. Throughout the performance, Tomas will offer explanations and answer questions, as well as encourage plenty of audience participation. Learn about the history and geography of Southern Spain, how to play the castanets and las palmas, rhythmic hand-clapping, and Flamenco’s prototypical “zapateo”(footwork). Audience members will be invited to join the artists on stage to do a short dance number at the end. Tomas and her troupe offer a lively true taste of the Southern Spanish art of flamenco.
