The 12th annual Gingerbread House Tour is once again underwritten by Halstead Property. There are 125 house kits available on a first-come, first-served basis, one per family or organization please.

The free gingerbread house kits will be available at Halstead’s offices beginning Nov. 16 located at 183 Elm St. (across from the Train Station) weekdays between 9 a.m. and noon.

“You don’t have to be Hansel or Gretel to appreciate the creativity and enthusiasm that our young people exhibit each year when building and decorating their own gingerbread houses,” said Tucker Murphy, executive director of the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce. “This is a wonderful tradition that our ancestors brought with them to the New World. Keeping it alive is one of the more enjoyable rites of the holiday season.”

The houses will be on display in store windows throughout town during the month of December. The Holiday Stroll is scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday Dec. 2 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday Dec. 3. For additional information, contact the Chamber at 203-966-2004.
