New Canaan Police on Sunday night arrested a 20-year-old Stamford man on misdemeanor motor vehicle and drug charges.
At about 8:33 p.m. on Sept. 25, an officer on patrol in Waveny saw a vehicle there, in violation of the town ordinance governing park hours, according to a police report.
During a subsequent stop and in speaking with the driver, the officer smelled marijuana, the report said.
The officer investigated, and police later charged the man with operating a motor vehicle while a diver’s license is suspended, refused or revoked, driving with no insurance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
It isn’t clear just what the officer found that led to the drug charge.
The man was released after promising to appear Oct. 7 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
