Police cited a 41-year-old Connecticut man for minor drug offenses Sunday night after finding pot and smoking gear in his car during a traffic stop.

At about 9:18 p.m. on Nov. 6, an officer spotted a vehicle traveling northbound on Old Stamford Road that had an expired license plate, according to a police report.

During a subsequent stop, the officer smelled burnt marijuana, the report said.

The officer searched the Wauregan man’s vehicle and found marijuana as well as a glass pipe with pot residue on it, it said.

The driver was cited for possession of less than .5 ounces of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
