Police arrested a 52-year-old Stamford man Thursday morning after he was found in his car with flowers at a Grove Street fitness center, looking for a woman there.
The Stamford man was charged with first-degree criminal trespass and refusing to be fingerprinted.
New Canaan Police Sgt. Carol Ogrinc said police had warned the Stamford man in the past to stay away from the gym and that officials had told him the woman he was seeking no longer worked there.
Yet at about 8 a.m. on March 27, workers at the Grove Street facility saw him in an underground parking lot in his Plymouth Colt, Ogrinc said.
The man is known to police, she said. His desire to connect with the woman in question has been an issue for more than 10 years, she said. Asked whether the two had been involved in a relationship in the past, Ogrinc said no.
The man was held on $10,000 bond and scheduled to appear March 28 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
