Editor,
Rob Fryer is by far the better fit for Town Treasurer.
Rob’s 45-year business career was entirely in accounting and finance. He worked for decades as a CPA for large industrial companies, which have treasury operations that involve issuing bonds and managing cash balances—just like municipalities. He was a partner for many years at Deloitte. His opponent has much less business experience, primarily in regulatory compliance, which is not relevant to a municipal treasury operation.
Rob has committed to present an annual receipts and payments statement to town bodies, which is required by Connecticut law, but which his opponent—the current incumbent—has never done.
Rob has the time to take this important local government role to the next level. His professional background and volunteer activities have given him the skills and experience to serve as part of the system of checks and balances that is important in our great system of democracy. He also has the temperament and the willingness to work collaboratively with the town’s Finance Department and other town officials to ensure prudent and efficient management of New Canaan’s finances.
Please vote for Rob Fryer for Town Treasurer on November 7.
