As a lifelong registered Republican, the time has never been more important to put aside party affiliations and seek out the best candidates for each and every role in local, state and federal government. Our system of government is bankrupt and broken. Fiscal deficits beyond belief, ballooning government debt that will never be repaid, abominable policy choices and a dramatic amount of “kicking the can down the road” has led the country and the state into uncharted fiscal waters. The effects of the incredible amount if irresponsibility from the federal and state government have come home to roost in New Canaan and more broadly in Fairfield County.
However, looking deeper and specifically at New Canaan there is a more local and pressing issue—Wall Street. Regardless of your view of Wall Street and financial services more broadly (including PE funds, hedge funds, asset managers, attorneys and all the middle office and back office support) the impact of the gutting of Financial Services has taken a dramatic toll on New Canaan. Look no further than the housing market for your evidence. The vast majority of young families (and existing families) moving to New Canaan have some connection to the financial services industry. On so many levels this is a critical component to who we are as a community and it should be in the forefront of our public policy. And the best candidate for that topic and many others is Democrat Mark Grzymski.
I have been a resident of New Canaan for 12 years and have known Mark since the day I moved to town. Mark is thoughtful, intelligent and knows the issues both micro and macro that impact our town and our lives. Mark has the experience we need and almost more importantly Mark possesses the attitude, judgement and demeanor we are missing in government today. To all my attorney friends I apologize in advance but we don’t need more attorneys in the government—we have too many already. Less arguing and more compromise. Mark is a level headed and genuine person that sees compromise versus a fight; sees progress over “winning” and will represent all of New Canaan through the myriad of issues we face locally, at the state level and from the federal level. Join me in supporting Mark, his wife Kristen and their two young daughters this November at the ballot box.
