Dear NewCanaanite Editor,
I am a 25 year resident of New Canaan. I love my town. My wife Jeanette and I call it home. It is the only place my four kids have ever lived, until my oldest found his first job out of college two years ago.
Because I care so deeply for New Canaan is why I am writing this email in support of John Engel for Town Council. I got to know John about two years ago when I became more active in town. Whenever I am in a town meeting with John, he is always so engaged on questions ranging from open space, the impact of development and zoning, the health and trends of the real estate market and how those things affect matters of taxation and sustainability.
We need leaders in town hall who are willing to make tough decisions and John possesses that toughness. He respects the character of our town, but is willing to challenge the status quo and push for positive changes in our community. He wrote in support and guidance for Grace Farms Foundation, worked for the creation of a Land Acquisition Fund, and led the town wide effort to purchase the important Silvermine-Fowler Preserve which opened Saturday. He gets it.
John takes the long view. I have learned much about the inspirational and caring person that John is for the Town of New Canaan, and that is why I am supporting John for re-election to Town Council.
