Police are investigating a pair of early-morning larcenies involving cars that officials say might be related.
At about 3:51 a.m. on June 13, a 55-year-old North Wilton Road man reported to police that he had been looking out his window when he saw someone standing in his yard, according to a police report.
The man went outside and saw the suspect—about six-foot-three, 200 pounds, a white man or woman wearing dark pants, a dark hoodie jacket and perhaps a face mask—who immediately ran away.
The man checked his SUV and it was missing $400 and a debit card, he said.
Then, at about 6:39 a.m. the same morning, police received a report of a stolen 2010 Land Rover from a Canoe Hill Road residence.
The SUV’s owner told police that he’d parked it the prior night around 11:30 p.m. and left his keys in the car, worth about $50,000. The car itself was recovered that night in Bridgeport, undamaged, police said.
Items missing from the car include $150 cash and an $800 digital camera.

A 39-year-old New Jersey man faces a $465 fine after a video recording captured his vehicle passing a stopped school bus with its flashers on and stop sign extended on New Norwalk Road, according to police.
A white four-door Honda with New Jersey plates was videotaped by a recorder on the bus that’s activated whenever it stops, according to a police report. It happened around 9:19 a.m. on June 9, police said.
It isn’t clear whether the vehicle’s owner was operating the Honda at the time of the infraction, police said.

Police are investigating the reported theft of a $300 iPhone 4 from a Farm road business.
The 82-year-old cellphone owner and complainant told police at 1:21 p.m. on June 8 that the device had ended up in the hands of a male employee for a time, and that it was never returned.

At the same business, $15 was reported stolen from a pocketbook between 10 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. on June 12.
A 19-year-old woman said her wallet and pocketbook appeared to have been rummaged through during the day, police said.

At 10:43 a.m. on June 9, police received a report that about $40 in cash, a credit and driver’s license was stolen from a 17-year-old girl’s Jeep Liberty while it was parked at New Canaan High School.
The car was unlocked and the girl’s wallet was on the dashboard, police said.
The card was later used at a Best Buy in New Haven, police said.

An 80-year-old New Norwalk Road woman at 8:10 p.m. on June 9 told police that a 3-foot-high plant with yellow flowers (worth $70) was stolen from her front porch.
It happened some time between June 6 and 8, police said, and the large flowerpot was not stolen.
Police are investigating.

A 66-year-old Millport Avenue man at about 4:17 p.m. on June 11 told police that his debit card had been used fraudulently.
The man flagged six fraudulent purchases made June 9, totaling $247.
