Prominent local businessman Bo Harrigan of Harrigan Insurance last week funded the purchase of “Individual First Aid Kits” or “IFAKs” for each police vehicle, officials say.
The kits, which contain a tourniquet and other items that officers currently do not have, New Canaan Police Chief Leon Krolikowski said, “are critical if an officer was seriously injured—for example, severe bleeding.
“It allows the officer to get life-saving care immediately,” Krolikowski said.
The chief commended Harrigan—whose company is a member of the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce—for the $2,400 donation, saying “Bo had the vision to provide New Canaan Officers with critical care items that will ensure the health and safety of New Canaan’s officers.”
