Police arrested a 35-year-old Yonkers, N.Y. on a felony charge Monday night following an incident in downtown New Canaan.
At about 9 p.m. on Nov. 28, officers were dispatched to Walgreens on Pine Street on a report that two people tried to return items that they said they’d purchased at a different store location, police said.
The officers found the people in question in a white Kia in the parking lot, according to a police report.
In verifying the identity of one of them, the Yonkers man, authorities found that police in Berlin wanted him on an active paperless re-arrest warrant, the report said.
It isn’t clear what the original charge was from that department, but police charged the man with first-degree failure to appear, a felony. He was held on $2,500 bond and scheduled to appear the following day in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
The other person in the Kia, a 30-year-old Bronx woman, was found to be in possession of a small amount of pot, the report said.
Police cited her for possession of less than .5 ounces of marijuana and operating a motor vehicle without a license.
