Police charged an estranged Sunset Hill Road couple with disorderly conduct after a fight erupted Sunday evening between the wife and a younger woman at the condo where the husband has been living.

It happened around 10:02 p.m. on Avalon Drive East, where police met the husband, 45, and a 24-year-old woman, according to a police report. The husband had been at the Sunset Hill Road house he once shared with his wife earlier in the evening, and the pair had been arguing when the wife made a comment about a woman at his separate residence, the report said.

The man said there wasn’t anyone at his place and told his wife, also 45, that she could go there and see for herself, the report said. The pair then traveled to Avalon Drive East and the wife spotted a purse inside the home, the report said. Soon after, the 24-year-old emerged from somewhere within the unit and the wife attacked her, the report said.

The wife threw the purse at the younger woman though she missed her, the report said. The husband jumped in between them and, at some point during the scuffle, he was scratched on the cheek, the report said.

The husband and wife were released after promising to appear Monday in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
