Police on Monday arrested a 43-year-old South Salem, N.Y. man by warrant following a car accident in downtown New Canaan in January.
At about 4:45 p.m. on Jan. 8, officers were dispatched to Locust Avenue and Cherry Street on a report of an evading motor vehicle accident, according to a police report.
Officers discovered that the suspect vehicle was last seen heading north on Smith Ridge Road, the report said. Police contacted the man they would arrest at his home in South Salem, not far over the state line.
Following an investigation, police obtained a warrant charging the man with driving under the influence, evading responsibility and failure to drive right.
He turned himself in to New Canaan Police at 12 p.m. Monday and was released on $3,000 bond and scheduled to appear in state Superior Court in Norwalk on March 31.
