Police last week arrested a 27-year-old Ridgefield man and charged him with driving under the influence.
At about 8:30 p.m. on May 2, an officer saw a vehicle traveling southbound on Smith Ridge Road following another car too closely, according to a police report.
During a subsequent stop, the officer spoke to the driver and detected signs of impairment associated with drug use, the report said.
The man admitted to smoking a vape pen with cannabis five minutes before the motor vehicle stop, it said.
The driver then failed field sobriety tests, police said. No information was available regarding his level of blood-alcohol content.
Police additionally cited him for following too closely.
He was released on $250 bond and scheduled to appear May 16 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
