Police on Thursday afternoon arrested a 63-year-old River Road man and charged him with driving under the influence.
At about 1:41 p.m. on March 1, police received a report of a possibly intoxicated white man sitting in the driver’s seat of a red Hyundai Elantra in the Bank of America parking lot, officials said.
Arriving, officers watched the man try to back out of parking space and, approaching, smelled alcohol on his breath, according to a police report.
They found a large open bottle of vodka in the center console, the report said.
He then failed field sobriety tests and was charged. He additionally was charged with drinking while driving. The results of a blood-alcohol content test were not immediately available.
Police released the man on $250 bond and scheduled him to appear March 15 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
