After years of anticipation, the vacant and deteriorating antique home at 4 Main St. finally has been sold, according to a property transfer recorded Wednesday in the Town Clerk’s office. Arnold Karp bought the ca. 1780-built Greek Revival from James Talbot for $810,000.

State officials this week voted in favor of a recommendation from counsel for the Connecticut Freedom of Information Commission, finding that the town broke the law by withholding a draft document of the New Canaan Planning & Zoning Commission.

The Summer Theatre of New Canaan—which opens its 2018 season this weekend with Kiss Me, Kate”—announced that Jodi Stevens won the Best Featured Actress in a Musical award from the Connecticut Critics Circle for her performance in last summer’s production of “Singin’ in the Rain.” Annabelle Fox received a nomination for Best Actress in a Musical. The awards ceremony was held Monday night and celebrates the best in professional theatre in the state.

The July community coffee hosted by NewCanaanite.com and presented in partnership with New Canaan Library will be held July 12 instead of July 5, as we expect many of our regular attendees to get away after the midweek Family Fourth.

Local landscape architect Keith Simpson on Tuesday night while presenting an application to P&Z on behalf of the owners of 1528 Ponus Ridge noted that the Midcentury modern home there appears to be the only one in New Canaan that’s built on an island. The property is encircled by the Mill River and an arm of a waterway that runs from the Collins Pond across the street.

Members of the New Canaan Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution known as the DAR recently presented their 2018 Community Service Award to the New Canaan EMS (formerly New Canaan Ambulance Corp) for its extraordinary dedication to the citizens of our community. The men and women of the Ambulance Corp were nominated by the DAR’s Chapter membership for the extraordinary dedication of the NCEMS to the citizens of the community.

Talks with the Elm Street retailer who had been interested in leasing out the former Outback Teen Center building are back on, First Selectman Kevin Moynihan said Thursday during a press briefing.

The commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Transportation has informed Moynihan that the state is deciding whether to allow New Canaan to create a new level of parking at the Talmadge Hill Road lot down on Route 106 itself, where officials had staged equipment and trailers during recent work there. The area could yield 60 new parking spots for the town, Moynihan said.
