Assault, Disorderly Charges for 24-Year-Old Woman

Police on Tuesday afternoon arrested a 24-year-old Memphis, Tenn. woman I connection with a domestic incident at a New Canaan home.

At about 3:14 p.m. on Dec. 26, officers were dispatched to a Heritage Hill Road residence on a report of a dispute between two occupants there, police said.

Following an investigation, the woman was charged with third-degree assault and disorderly conduct, according to a police report.

It wasn’t clear just how or how severely the victim was injured, whether the victim was related to the arrested woman or how or what the dispute involved. Police withheld further details, saying the incident had been classified as a domestic matter.

A person is guilty of third-degree assault, under state law, when with intent to cause physical injury to another person, he or she causes such injury to such person or to a third person; or recklessly causes serious physical injury to another person; or with criminal negligence, he causes physical injury to another person by means of a deadly weapon, a dangerous instrument or an electronic defense weapon.

Under state law, a person is guilty of disorderly conduct when, with intent to cause inconvenience, annoyance or alarm, engages in fighting or in violent, tumultuous or threatening behavior; or by offensive or disorderly conduct, annoys or interferes with another person, among other reasons.

The woman was released on $500 bond and scheduled to appear Dec. 27 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
