Born July 29, 1976, Amanda Dawn Montanaro (Mandy) died March 12, 2018 in her apartment in New Canaan. Growing up in Westport and New Canaan, Mandy attended New Canaan Country School, St. Luke’s, and The New School.
She is survived by her mother, Judy Larson of New Canaan, her father Richard Montanaro of Easton, her brother Christopher Montanaro and his wife, Kristi Montanaro and their little daughter, Stella, of Westport, and her brother Nicolas Montanaro of Norwalk, CT.
Mandy was open, kind, friendly, generous and highly intelligent, with a warm and ready laugh and a brilliant sense of humor. Her passions included art, acting, music, and spirituality. She was especially interested in teaching and helping children through the arts. Mandy touched the lives of all who knew her, and had a wide network of friends who will always be united by her memory and spirit. Her friends and family will miss her very much, but are sure she continues to spread her light even more than she did when in this world.
For those who wish to donate to honor her memory, special scholarship funds have been set up for two of Mandy’s favorite non-profits: Horizons National, which was started at New Canaan Country School—an academic and enrichment program for low-income children.
