Police cited a 21-year-old Norwalk man last Tuesday after stopping him downtown for not wearing a seatblet and then finding a small amount of marijuana in his car.
On running the man’s information, police found that he was wanted by Norwalk Police on misdemeanor failure to appear charges for a slew of dog-related infraction offenses, according to Sgt. Carol Ogrinc of the New Canaan Police Department. He had been stopped by an officer on foot patrol near Elm Street and South Avenue, Ogrinc said.
During the stop, the man admitted that he had no driver’s license and that there was a marijuana “blunt” in the center console, Ogrinc said. There was.
New Canaan police cited him for failure to wear a seatbelt, operating without a license and possession of less than .5 ounces of marijuana.
He had been cited by Norwalk police last November for allowing a dog to roam, and missed his April court date for that, then cited in March for possession of a vicious/barking dog and failure to comply with ownership requirements and missed his early-July court date for that. Finally, he was cited in April for failure to comply with dog ownership requirements and missed his late-July court date for that, police said.
Police said when he was stopped here in New Canaan, there was a dog in the car, though it’s unclear if that’s the same animal related to the original Norwalk infractions.
He was released on $250 bond for each FTA offense and scheduled to appear Aug. 20 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
