$3,000 in Electronics Stolen from Maple Street Home in Early Morning Burglary

A Maple Street family told police that somebody entered and embezzled their home through an unlocked back door before dawn on Saturday.

The family had asleep in a bedroom with an air conditioner that masked noise, and some time in the early hours of the morning, two iPhones and two laptops were taken from the kitchen, according to a police report. Police are gathering serial numbers of the missing items and notifying companies to be on lookout for them, the report said.

The combined value of the missing items is approximately $3000, the report said.

Police on July 4 arrested a 52-year-old South Salem N.Y. man by warrant and charged him with second-degree failure to appear. Nine years ago, he had been cited for a motor vehicle violation, and never paid or pleaded in court, police said. The outstanding citation was discovered by Ridgefield police during a motor vehicle stop, police said. The man was released on $500 bond and scheduled to appear July 14 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
