Police last week cited an 18-year-old Stamford man for drug offenses after finding pot in his car during a traffic stop.
At about 1:27 a.m. on Dec. 29, an officer on patrol saw a vehicle traveling on New Norwalk Road with a defective headlight, according to a police report.
During a subsequent stop, the officer smelled marijuana while speaking with the driver, the report said. An investigation turned up pot, a metal grinder and rolling papers, it said.
The Stamford man, a passenger in the car, said the drugs and smoking gear belonged to him.
He was cited for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The driver additionally was issued a verbal warning for the headlight.
