Police on Wednesday arrested two Norwalk teenagers by warrant in connection with the theft of iPhones at New Canaan High School.
At about 7:50 p.m. on Feb. 2, an officer was dispatched to NCHS on a report that two iPhones had been stolen from separate backpacks left in the lobby area of the gym, police said.
New Canaan hosted Brien McMahon High School in a home basketball game that Friday night, according to the team’s schedule.
Other sports also were occurring at that time, police said, though a review of video surveillance led authorities to identify two male suspects seen stealing the devices.
Through a joint investigation of the New Canaan Police school resource officer and youth sergeant as well as Norwalk SROs, both suspects were identified, according to a police report.
The teens—one 16, the other 17—turned themselves in to New Canaan Police on Feb. 21 and were charged with fifth- and sixth-degree larceny, respectively.
Their cases were referred to the Juvenile Matters Division of Superior Court. Police withheld the teens’ names because of their ages.
