Two Drunk Driving Arrests in New Canaan

Police arrested a 58-year-old Harrison Avenue woman for drunk driving late Friday after she failed field sobriety tests following a single-car crash on Oenoke Ridge Road.

The accident just around the corner from God’s Acre around 11:21 p.m. on Sept. 18, according to a police report. Police arriving on scene said in a report that the woman showed signs of inebriation such as glassy eyes, and that they detected the odor of alcohol on her person.

She breath-tested at more than twice the legal alcohol limit, the report said. Firefighters arriving on scene ensured that the area was adequately lit as motorists passed the accident, officials say.

Police charged the woman with driving under the influence and cited her for failure to drive in the established lane.

She was released on $250 bond and scheduled to appear Oct. 1 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.

A 50-year-old Easton Man faces a misdemeanor drunk driving charge after police say he failed sobriety tests during a motor vehicle stop last Wednesday night.

At about 8:54 p.m. on Sept. 16, officers were dispatched to the area of Bank Street and South Avenue on a report that a motorist was swerving all over the road, police said.

With license plate information in hand, police found the vehicle in question and stopped the motorist on South Avenue near Cherry Street, according to a police report.

On speaking to the driver, officers detected the odor of alcohol on his breath, the report said. He refused a Breathalyzer but failed field sobriety tests, the report said.

Police released the man on $250 bond and scheduled him to appear Sept. 30 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
