NEW CANAAN – There’s nothing like a little romance to bring some warmth to this insanely cold and snowy winter we’ve had here in New Canaan. For those not willing to brave the elements and are instead looking to stay local for Valentine’s Day, here’s a few destinations well worth checking out.

Roger Sherman Inn – The Roger Sherman is one of the last of its kind in this area, and part of the reason it has survived where others have not is because of its acclaimed restaurant. One of the most romantic spaces in Fairfield County, Executive Chef Christophe Cadou’s French menu will feature a special Valentine’s Day prix fixe for $75 per person.

IMG_0045Elm – The slogan at this high-end, sophisticated New American is “rooted in tradition, inspired by the seasons,” and Chef Brian Lewis’ ultra-fresh, refined cuisine consistently delivers. Elm will have an $85/pp. Valentine’s Day menu highlighting seasonal bounty. Wine aficionados would be wise to take advantage of the $55 pairing option available.

The space can be a bit on the noisy side, so it might slightly compromise the intimacy of the holiday. That said, the food and drink can easily overcome the din and will make for an exceptional night out.

IMG_6537Cava – Delicious Italian cuisine, terrific wine and attentive service are the hallmarks of this Restaurant Row mainstay. These are also reasons for it to be on anyone’s Valentine’s Day list. If you can’t get a table in the dining room, do not fret. The handsome bar in the back of the restaurant is not only a great backup plan, it might actually be a better option altogether.

IMG_0042Boulevard 18 – Main Street is not exactly the Champs-Elysees, but this French wine bar has just the right “je ne sais quoi” to make you expect to see the Eiffel Tower instead of Town Hall upon exiting. An inviting, cozy dining room, a solid-if-unspectacular menu and nice wine list adds up to a great destination to bring your loved one.

So…did I miss anyplace? Is your favorite not on this list? Please share your favorite spots.

    • Oh yes, nothing speaks to the heart quite like pizza…and New Canaan Pizza remains one of the best in town. I might be bringing home a heart-shaped pie m’self on the 14th! Thanks for the tip Scotty.
