Police on Tuesday evening arrested a 30-year-old Litchfield County man following a domestic violence incident in New Canaan the prior afternoon.

At about 3:19 p.m. on Monday, officers were dispatched to an Urban Street home to speak to the victim in what was said to be a domestic complaint, according to a police report.

Based on an investigation that included victim’s statements and evidence presented to officers, police obtained an arrest warrant for the Barkhamsted man.

He was charged with second-degree threatening, second-degree unlawful restraint and disorderly conduct.

It isn’t clear whether or how the arrested man is related to the victim, what was the nature of the threats or how they were made.

Police withheld details, classifying the matter as a domestic incident.

Under state law, a person is guilty of second-degree threatening in the second degree when: by physical threat, such person intentionally places or attempts to place another person in fear of imminent serious physical injury; such person threatens to commit any crime of violence with the intent to terrorize another person; or such person threatens to commit such crime of violence in reckless disregard of the risk of causing such terror.

The man was held on $10,000 bond and scheduled to appear Wednesday in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
