Addressing concerns following an incident this week where a 22-year-old man on New Canaan High School’s campus attempted to enter the school’s cafeteria through an exterior door, the district’s superintendent offered reassurance to parents and the wider community about the facility’s security. New Canaan Police on Monday arrested a New Jersey man who inexplicably approached the building at an exterior door to the cafeteria around noon and then, when confronted, falsely claimed that he was a 17-year-old transfer to NCHS. Asked about the incident, Dr. Bryan Luizzi said that New Canaan Public Schools “makes the safety of its students a priority at all times.”

“All doors at New Canaan High School are locked,” Luizzi told NewCanaanite.com. “The main entrance doors are monitored by the district’s campus monitors, as are all front doors in all the district’s schools. Visitors need to show identification, sign in and sign out, and are given a name badge to wear during their visit.

New Canaan Police Officer Geoffrey Lambert To Take on School Resource Role at NCHS

A 27-year New Canaan Police Department officer. U.S. Marines veteran and father of three will serve as the next officer assigned to New Canaan High School, officials said Thursday. Officer Geoffrey Lambert will start Nov. 7 in the School Resource Officer role, according to a press release issued by Police Chief Leon Krolikowski. “During his career he has received many letters of appreciation, awards and commendations for exceptional performance,” Krolikowski said.

Police Honor Five at Awards Ceremony; Caponera Named ‘Officer of the Year’

New Canaan Police on Tuesday recognized five officers during an awards ceremony. The following citations are supplied by New Canaan Police Chief Leon Krolikowski. “We are all very proud of these officers, their accomplishments and their devotion to Town and Department,” he said in a press release. Officer Bryan Connolly—Meritorious Police Duty Award:

On January 2, 2016 at approximately 1:47 AM, while on routine patrol, Officer Connolly observed a vehicle traveling that matched the description of a suspect vehicle wanted in connection with a series of larcenies from motor vehicles which had occurred in Darien in mid-December. Officer Connolly stopped the suspicious vehicle and found that the driver, Eric Williams, had a lengthy criminal record of burglaries and larcenies as well three outstanding arrest warrants for violation of probation. Williams was taken into custody and transported to court the following day. Williams has victimized New Canaan in the past and was arrested for a series of over a dozen vehicle larcenies.
