Officials with the state Department of Emergency Management say a total of 16 inches of snow fell in New Canaan. Downtown streets and primary roads (Rte. 123, Oenoke Ridge, Ponus Ridge) are well-plowed as crews worked through the night. Secondary and tertiary roads are still being worked on Sunday morning. Officials say a two-vehicle accident on Route 123 in New Canaan has sent one person to the hospital.

The district issued a bulletin that New Canaan Public Schools will operate on a 2-hour delay Wednesday, here are start times:

New Canaan High School: 9:30 a.m.
Saxe (7-8): 9:30 a.m.
Saxe (5-6): 10:20 a.m.
South: 10:15 a.m.
East & West: 11:05 a.m.

New Canaan’s highest elected official reported that one private plow operator went off of the road out toward Lost District, and otherwise no difficulties. The town emergency services and public works teams were “ready for anything,” First Selectman Rob Mallozzi said. There were 20 people at the New Canaan Fire Department overnight, including 13 volunteers, he said. “Very pleased we over-prepared,” Mallozzi said.
