Despite sophomore Tyler Hill’s two-goal, two-assist performance, the New Canaan Rams boys hockey team fell to Notre Dame Fairfield 6-4 Wednesday at the Milford Ice Pavilion.
New Canaan led 2-1 after one period and extended its lead to 3-1 early in the second. The Lancers scored two unanswered goals in the second period to tie the game, and pulled ahead 4-3 early in third with another goal.
New Canaan junior Kyle Mettler’s third period goal evened things up for the Rams at 4-4 before the Lancers scored the eventual game-winner with 3:40 left to play. Notre Dame added an empty-netter to cap the scoring at 6-4.
In addition to Hill’s strong performance, Mettler had a goal and an assist for the Rams who finished their first season under new head coach Pat Gore at 12-8-3. Senior Max Begoon also had a goal in the loss. Sophomore goalie Liam Mooney made 22 saves for New Canaan.
