Police say they’re investigating a report of two boxes of goods that appear to have been delivered to a home and then stolen, open and tossed aside.

On Dec. 19, the U.S. Postal Service delivered boxes from Amazon that included a $33 fleece and $49 Transformers-brand toy, according to a police report.

Officers determined where they were supposed to have been delivered in New Canaan and contacted the would-be recipients, the report said. Whoever took the boxes disposed of them on the side of Benedict Hill Road, police said.

There are no known suspects, according to the report.

Police learned of the apparent theft at 5:01 p.m. on Monday.

Police Chief Leon Krolikowski is urging residents to have packages delivered during the holiday season to a secure place such as a work address.
