Police on Wednesday arrested an 18-year-old New Canaan man and charged him with felony violation of a protective order.
At about 6:57 p.m. on Nov. 21, police received a complaint about a domestic altercation that had taken place earlier in the day between two family members, officials said.
Following an investigation, police charged the teen with disorderly conduct and second-degree threatening. It wasn’t clear what the argument involved, how the man is related to the victim, in what way he threatened him or her or whether it turned physical. Police withheld further information, calling it a domestic incident.
Under state law, a person is guilty of second-degree threatening if, “by physical threat, such person intentionally places or attempts to place another person in fear of imminent serious physical injury,” or “such person threatens to commit such crime of violence in reckless disregard of the risk of causing such terror.”
At about 8:38 p.m., after he was released by police on the promise to appear Friday in state Superior Court in Norwalk, and to avoid further contact with the victim, the man violated the conditions of his release and returned to the Millport Avenue residence, officials said.
Officers took custody of him inside the residence, according to a police report.
He was held on $2,500 on the new charge.
