Police: DUI Charge for 48-Year-Old Man Arrested Tuesday Morning After Car Crash

Police on Tuesday morning arrested a 48-year-old Norwalk man for drunk driving after a car accident in New Canaan.

At about 9:16 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of White Oak Shade Road at Old Rock Lane, on the Norwalk border, according to a police report.

There, they found that a vehicle emerged from Old Rock Lane had been struck by a motorist traveling northbound on White Oak Shade, the report said.

Officers smelled the odor of alcohol on the driver’s breath, and they subsequently administered field sobriety tests, which he failed, it said.

Police charged him with driving under the influence.

It isn’t clear whether anyone was hurt in the accident, what was the extent of damage to cars, whether other vehicles were involved or whether additional charges will be brought as a result of the collision. Police said the investigation into the accident is still ongoing.

The arrested man was scheduled to appear in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
