Police on Thursday afternoon arrested a 22-year-old Norwalk man and charged him with driving under the influence.
At about 12:18 p.m. on May 4, an officer on patrol spotted a vehicle on Park Street whose registration had expired, according to a police report.
During a subsequent stop, the officer smelled the odor of marijuana emitting from within the car, the report said.
Police identified a 26-year-old Norwalk man as the passenger.
An investigation revealed that the driver had recently smoked and field sobriety tests were administered, the report said.
The driver additionally was cited for operating an unregistered motor vehicle.
Chemical analysis results were not immediately available.
Police released the driver on $250 bond and scheduled him to appear May 15 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
The passenger admitted that he had pot and he was cited for possession of less than .5 ounces of marijuana.
