Police Arrest Girl Who Gave Twin’s Name during Distracted Driving Ticket; Burglar Arrested by Warrant

A 21-year-old Brewster, N.Y. girl was arrested by warrant on Oct. 29 and charged with criminal impersonation.

She’d given police her twin sister’s name after they stopped her on Oenoke Ridge Road for a cellphone violation back in June. Police learned of the ruse when that sister phoned them, according to Sgt. Carol Ogrinc.

She turned herself in and was released on $500 bond and scheduled to appear Nov. 12 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.

Police arrested a 27-year-old Teaneck, N.J. man by warrant in connection with a home burglary in March that saw nearly $5,000 in electronics and jewelry stolen from a North Wilton Road home.

The arrested man was charged with third-degree burglary, third-degree larceny, third-degree criminal trespass and criminal mischief.

New Canaan Police obtained a warrant after the man came to the door of a neighboring home in New Canaan about one month after the March burglary, police said. That neighbor supplied police a description of the man and his vehicles, and they matched information on a suspect connected to burglaries in other Fairfield County towns, police said.

He appeared Oct. 28 in state Superior Court in Norwalk. Items stolen in the March burglary include a Macbook Air laptop ($1,500), jewelry ($2,500) and Nikon digital camera ($800).

Police cited a 23-year-old Stamford man for possession of less than .5 ounces of marijuana following a motor vehicle stop Saturday evening, and he also faces a misdemeanor failure to appear charge from Stamford police.

The man was speeding south down Ponus Ridge near Winfield Lane when police pulled him over, according to a police report. They smelled marijuana in the car, asked about it and he handed them a blunt in the center console, the report said.

He had been facing motor vehicle charges in Stamford from July and failed to appear in court on those on Oct. 17, police learned.

He was release don $2,500 bond and scheduled to appear Nov. 13 in state Superior Court.
