Police on Tuesday afternoon arrested a 34-year-old Sandy Hook woman who is accused of stealing about $440 in merchandise from an Elm Street clothing store.
At about 1:40 p.m. on Nov. 14, officers were dispatched to the shop on a report of a woman who had stolen items and then ran away on foot after leaving, according to a police report.
Store employees got the woman’s license plate and a description of her vehicle, the report said.
Authorities then put out a ‘BOLO’ alert for area police to “be on the lookout” for the suspect, it said. She was located by Westport Police shortly after that alert, on the Merritt Parkway’s Exit 44 off-ramp, the report said.
Police took custody of the woman and charged her with sixth-degree larceny.
She was released on $2,000 bond and scheduled to appear Nov. 27 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
