Police on Monday morning arrested a 30-year-old Pound Ridge, N.Y. man and charged him with driving under the influence, possession of a controlled substance and use and possession of drug paraphernalia.

At about 8:45 a.m. on Feb. 25, officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Oenoke Ridge Road on a report of a suspicious vehicle parked along the roadside with the driver slumped over and possibly in need of medical attention, officials said.

Arriving, officers made contact with the driver and found that the vehicle was in drive with the engine running, according to a police report.

The right front tire was flat and its rim damaged, consistent with a driving on a flat tire for an extended period of time, the report said.

On speaking to the driver, police found his speech very slurred and that he would fall asleep while answering the officer’s questions, it said.

After administering field sobriety tests, authorities determined that he was under the influence of a drug, police said.

He was taken into custody and found to be in possession of cocaine and a straw.

The man refused to undergo a test to determine his blood-alcohol level, police said.

He was released on $2,500 bond and scheduled to appear March 7 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
